Who runs this
Terence Grenfell, founder. Two decades in operational roles across food processing and manufacturing businesses. Built SEVEN TWENTY DEGREES as the vehicle for this work. Now advising businesses across North and East Africa on where to systematise, where to automate, and where human judgment still beats any tool.
Every assessment on this site is delivered personally — not by a team of juniors billing by the hour, not by a model answering on its own. If the name on the report is Terence's, Terence wrote it.
Why this practice exists
Small and mid-market operators across North and East Africa are being offered two kinds of help. One is the big international consulting firm, pitching a six-month engagement the business doesn't need and can't afford. The other is the software vendor, whose answer to every question is "our platform solves that". A lot of useful, middle-sized businesses fall between those two — they need a clear read on how they actually run, from someone who has operated one, not a strategy deck built to justify a retainer.
That is the gap this practice is built for. One owner-operator. One seven-day engagement. One written document you can hand to your plant manager, your CFO, and your head of sales on the same day.
How we work
Plainly. We read what you send us. We ask specific questions where the numbers don't line up. We write a short, dense report that says what we actually think, and we argue for each recommendation with reasons, not theatre. If the right answer for your business is to change one thing and leave everything else alone, the report will say that.
The offer is productised because productisation is how you protect both sides from scope creep. You know what you are paying for. We know what we are delivering. Nobody is quietly re-negotiating at week three.
How we use tools
We use software. We don't hide it and we don't evangelise it. An internal research toolkit (built on Claude, Anthropic's language model) helps with document review and pattern-finding during the research phase of an assessment — faster reading, better cross-referencing, a first-pass check on whether our initial read holds up against the underlying documents. Every finding and every recommendation in the report is written, weighed and signed by Terence. Nothing in the report reaches you unless a human has put their name to it.
We are not an Anthropic partner and do not claim to be. We are a customer of theirs, like millions of others.
What we don't do
We don't resell software. We don't take a commission from a platform vendor for putting their name in a recommendation. We don't sell a monthly retainer as a precondition for the assessment. We don't accept engagements where our honest read would clearly be unwelcome — if the owner has already decided on the answer they want, the report is going to be uncomfortable, and the money is not worth either side's time.
Who we work with
Owner-operators, chief operating officers and general managers of SMEs and mid-market businesses across Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Ghana. Industries we are most comfortable in: food processing, agriculture, logistics and distribution, light manufacturing, and hospitality groups. Rough company size: twenty to three hundred staff. Businesses outside those industries or regions: ask anyway.
